Even better, you can just go to the dictionary site and they have a word of the day section in English and Spanish.
Writing down the words and their meaning combined with saying them aloud to yourself helps you to better remember them and retain the vocabulary that you learn. Studies have shown that writing things down is deeply connected with being able to recall them in the future. If you want a better vocabulary then this is a great way to do it. Writing them multiple times can help even more.
Flashcards can be a great way to remember words. You simply get some index cards and write the word on one side and the definition on the other side. You can do them by yourself or have someone drill you on them. Either way it is a great way to learn new words and then remember them. You can use them every few days make sure you still remember the words.
While too good a vocabulary is not possible it is possible to overuse big words. Try use a good vocabulary proportionally when writing an essay. The better you know the words the better you can use them in a sentence. Don’t be so eager to use big words that you misuse words in an essay.
